3/27/2009 Sent left for Berlin, Germany today.Today Sarah left with her High School band to Berlin, Germany. She has been looking forward to this for a long time – every since she tried out last year, and made the band that would be going. Last year she knew that if she practiced a lot, she would have a chance for the band that would have an international trip. Today that dream came true for her. And maybe by coincidence, today is the day she found out that she made the top band at her high school. There is no better concert band at her high school and she will be one of six saxophone players in that band. I am just so very proud of her. She is one amazing, and still delightfully, goofy girl. 3/18/2009 Rich to receive the Girl Scout Appreciation Pin & DinnerI’ve been an assistant Girl Scout leader for 6 years now. In the past 5
years, I’ve headed up the Fall Product candy nut sales and in that time have
twice helped in Cookie Sales for my Service Unit. This year I headed up the cookie
sales. It was a lot of busy work for sure, but fun. I absolutely love being
involved in my daughter’s troop and in the GS organization. You get to meet
some incredible women who do amazing things for those girls in Girl Scouts. I
believe I have taken away more from those I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had
than I have been able to give back. Maybe that’s not the case because today I
receive a letter letting me know that I was selected to receive the Girl Scouts
USA Appreciation Pin. I will also be invited to a volunteer recognition dinner.
This is very cool. What I do, I do for the girls. The rewards I get are from
being involved in this organization and helping out. It is a good feeling and
very nice to be appreciated for one’s dedication and hard work. I hope you will
take a moment to read the letter that I received.  |
