Today was my daughter’s solo contest. She has been practicing her solo for many weeks now and today was the district wide solo contest. To give you an idea of how big it was, there were about 1000 students (6^th, 7^th, and 8^th grade) participating in this event from all the surrounding schools. Sarah’s school was the one that hosted this event this year. I was a volunteer room monitor, and was in charge of the Saxophone room for all the solos today. My job was easy, just to be sure that no one entered the room while the kids were performing and to check in the kids when they arrive at my room. It was fun listening to all the Saxophone solos today. Some good, and some really good. At 2:30, it was time for Sarah to perform. About 8 of her friends came to watch her play and give their support. That is what is so great about her friends, they all support each other during these events. Sarah’s performance was just amazing. She played so well and after it was done, the judge spoke so very highly of her performance. It made me so very proud to be there and to see my daughter smile so big and appreciate her own performance. She worked very hard at it, and today that hard work paid off. When it was time to see her results, we saw that she got first place.

The day before Valentines Day we got a big snow! It snowed a lot at night, then during the day and into the evening. When I got home from work, I got my snow blower and cleaned my driveway and then helped out a few of the neighbors to clean their driveways and sidewalks.
